Why keys break in locks

Keys usually snap because they're worn or bent, the lock is stiff or dirty, or the door has dropped so the lock is under strain. Once the key is out, we'll check for the cause so it doesn't happen again, whether that's lubricating the lock, adjusting the door, or replacing a worn-out cylinder.
